I have adobe 8 on my new laptop. I have many important documents saved as PDF files....which I have always been able to open through adobe. Now, I cant get anything to open through adobe...it looks as though its working and then nothing will load. And today, I finally got one of my documents to load and it came up as a bunch of scattered letter and symbols. I cant even get adobe to open. If anyone knows what this means or how to fix it...please help !! :) Thanks

If your new laptop has Vista installed, you are not alone. Adobe has to resolve the Vista compatibility issues.

Try the free Foxit Reader instead. I haven't tested it on Vista, but it's worth a try.

When you look at the files using Explorer (not Internet Explorer) do they have the A - Adobe icon next to them?

Go to Start->Control Panel and double click on Folder Options and click on File Types. Scroll doen to .pdf and see what program opens pdf files and change it to Adobe if it is something different.

First thing I would try is to open those files on someone else's computer through their Adobe, if they open then your problem is your software. It sounds like something is corrupt so reinstall your adobe and you should be o.k.

You can download Adobe reader for free from the internet. Google it and you will find it. Btw. you can also use a replacement program like: Foxit Reader. This program is also free and much faster.
