If the cracker is good, he wouldn't have left any signs.

But check for these things:
Unusually heavy traffic in your network logs.
Mysteriously open ports
Slow-running computer
An unusually high number of viruses being picked up by your virus scanner. (You do have a virus scanner, right?)

But in reality, there are probably no traces. Statistically though you are cracked quite often (just like everyone else).

Lots, running very slow, programs opening w/o you doing it, you need a firewall, and read the directions. Untill you get to know your comp. I wouldnt be using a credit card online, and MAKE SURE you dont save any important info in your comp, but remember, every time you used your credit card before, there was a 6 doller an hour employee with the number , and it didnt get too out of hand. Another alternative is to buy the prepaid credit cards at like, walgreens, and then you limit your vulnerability.

well u can't really know if a hacker is accessing your computer unless u install a firewall (zone alarm, bit-defender, nod32 etc)
or, OR if u research enough and learn the methods that a hacker can use to intrude into your computer. Signs aren't so evident but if u know were to look u can find him/them. Try to put you question on google/yahoo and see the results. One of the ways I've noticed someone was on my PC was when I was just about ready to log of for the day, when I told the computer to shut down it asked me about the others that were logged on to my computer.

If someone is hacking into your computer you might see the cursor on the screen move even while you aren't moving the mouse. Hope that helps!

i do no longer think of there is application obtainable that enables you to "see" if somebody is hacking in to your workstation. to be sure that the hacker to "hack", he desires to have a fashion in. you will possibly desire to have port-forwarding enabled on your router (the element that enables you to get on line) so as that the hacker might desire to get get admission to to your workstation. as a fashion to provide up this, first make valuable that port-forwarding isn't enabled, and make valuable that your router is password risk-free to boot as your instant community (in case you have one). in case you haven't any longer have been given a instant community, and/or port forwarding isn't enabled, the hacker has no way of getting access to your workstation directly. you're risk-free. My concepts are: a million). positioned a stable password on your router. 2). If it truly isn't any longer mandatory, do no longer use a instant community. no rely if it truly is, make valuable it has a stable password. If the hacker isn't on your community, it's going to make hacking for him plenty harder. 3). do no longer permit him into your place 'reason he's creepy. stable success, AlexV

When your credit card statement comes and there is several thousand dollars of purchases that you didn't make, that is a good indication that your computer has been compromised and is now "pwned".
