9(2x-18) = 36

Divide both sides of the equation by 9 to simplify.

(2x-18) = 4
2x - 18 = 4

Add 18 to both sides of the equation

2x - 18 + 18 = 4 + 18
2x = 22

Divide both sides by 2

x = 11
---------

That's it! :-)

(2x - 18) * 9 = 36

You need to get all of the numbers onto the same side of the equation, so you're left with x = .........

To do this you need to know that if you have any equation, then if you add, subtract, multiply or divide BOTH sides by the same factor, the equation is remains true: i.e
2+2 = 1+3
We can times both sides by 10 and it will still be true:
20+20 = 10 + 30
In your example, 36 is equal to 9*(2x-18). We also know that if we divide both sides of the equation by 9 then the equation will still be true. So try it:
36/9 = (9*(2x-18))/9 (Notice you need to divide EVERYTHING on the right by 9)
Of course you should see that 9/9 = 1, so we can change the new formula to:
36/9 = 2x-18
The next step would be to ADD 18 to both sides:
(36/9)+18 = (2x-18)+18
Again, 18-18 gives us zero and allows us to rearrange again to:
(36/9)+18 = 2x.

Last step is to divide both sides by 2.
((36/9)+18)/2 = x
x = 11

Reorder the terms:
9(-18 + 2x) = 36
(-18 * 9 + 2x * 9) = 36
(-162 + 18x) = 36

Solving
-162 + 18x = 36

Solving for variable 'x'.

Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '162' to each side of the equation.
-162 + 162 + 18x = 36 + 162

Combine like terms: -162 + 162 = 0
0 + 18x = 36 + 162
18x = 36 + 162

Combine like terms: 36 + 162 = 198
18x = 198

Divide each side by '18'.
x = 11

Simplifying
x = 11

Now first thing is to expand the brackets.

Here it is 9*2x = 18x.

And 9 * -18= -162

so overall you will get 18x-162=36

Put number in one side and the variables on the other side. Here you should get 18x=36+162.

Here it is +162 because the sign changes if you move it to the other side of the equation. From this you will get:

18x=198
x= 198/18

x=11

9 (2x - 18) = 36

expand the bracket. multiply 9 into each term in the bracket.

18x - 162 = 36

add 162 to each side of the equation.

18x = 36 + 162
18x = 198

divide each side of the equation by 18.

x = 11

thats how u do it. :)

9(2x - 18) = 36

(mulitply out the bracket)

18x - 162 = 36

(then take the add 162 to both sides)

18x = 198

(then divide both sides by 18)

x = 11

Multiply out the brackets....

9 (2x - 18) = 36

18x - 162 = 36

Add 162 to both sides...
18x = 198

divide both sides by 18
x = 11

Divide both sides by 9 you will get 2x-18=4. Then add both sides 18 you will get 2x=22, then divide both sides by 2 you will get: x=11

first of all move th 9 over. 36 divided by 9 is 4. therefore we now have 2x-18=4
2x=22
x=11
the ans is 11!

9(2x - 18) = 36

18x - 162 = 36

18x - 162 + 162 = 36 + 162

18x = 198

18x / 18 = 198 / 18

x = 198 / 18

x = 11
