You can get a used one much cheaper - like maybe even a double-wide for what you would pay for a bare-bones new single-wide. Do some looking around in the paper and at mobile home lots. Tell them you are looking for a used one and you'll be surprised how cheap you can buy one. Don't ever expect to get your money out of it. It depreciates a lot like a car especially if you buy a new one. Once you "drive" it off the lot, it's worth about half as much. The hard part is paying for the land it's sitting on. I don't know what part of the country you're on, but I think if you already have your land, you should be able to get into a mobile home for anywhere from $10,000 to $30,000 - and a pretty nice one as those things go. You can spend a lot more, but you can get a really good basic one if you do your homework.

On another subject, have you considered buying a small starter home? It would go up in value, especially if you decorate and design it yourself. You can get them in cost sometimes not that much more than a mobile home, you will be in a better neighborhood, not a mobile home park or undeveloped land, and your home will appreciate in value. You will be paying taxes for either one you buy. As far as decorating before the purchase, depending on the m/h company, they may have that available.

You probably could order one like that, but I think the manufacturer would charge extra for it.
