They say each horror film will freak you out and very few rarely do, yet alone come close.

From watching a film in a cinema, has a film ever actually disturbed you a little...

ie - feeling ill, phychological etc. etc.

The only film to have sucessfully done this to me is the remake of 'The hills have eyes'... that film totally mind fudged me.

Any others want to share?

I'm not talking simply scary movies, i'm talking about DISTURBING movies,

I agree wholeheartedly with the peep who said the original whicker man, that is a freaky film.

Silence of the Lambs is unusual...

Blair witch was merely a stupid film...

but they're your opinions and you're welcome to them.

I watch a lot of films that some would consider disturbing... 'OLDBOY', 'VISITORQ' and 'ANTIBODIES' are some of the more recent ones. All of which i'd reccommend! Very few films really affect me as i can watch just about anything but the film 'HOSTEL' that had somethin!!It's a really great film liked it so much i bought it but the scene where the blond guy is being tourtured.... it's not the gore like i said i can watch anything.... but listening to him scream... that disturbed me!! Why?? maybe cause it's a bloke... you hear one scream queen you've heard 'em all... but god dam if that boy didn't sound like those drill holes were real!! Other than HOSTEL the other films mentioned are all subtitled...check out any of the 'Tartan Asia' films. many new hollywood films are just remakes of these and the originals are totally superior. And yes the original WICKERMAN cult classic... i try to avoid nicolas cage... he's too commercial these days....so haven't bothered with the hollywood version.. as for sandra bullface.. sorry bullock and PREMONITION... i'd rateher drill holes in my knee caps than watch her but the original PREMONITION..... thought provoking.... why does hollywood feel the need to ruin classic cult by dressing it up and smothering it??

There are two films that disturbed me. The first was Armistad (I think thats how it was spelt) with Anthony Hopkins. The scene where the slaves were sleeping at the bottom of the ship in a storm and they were having to pass a little baby amoungst themselves to keep it alive. They were being sick over each other. It was horrific because its a true story and you knew it actually happened.

The second is an old film called Eraserhead. It was a really freaky film which I havent dared watch since!

Saw III, watching an innocent lady have her ribs ripped from her chest then a childs corpse being rolled around on a gurny really made me feel sick, I actually vomited. I dont react well to the idea of women or children suffering, and they managed to put both within the space of 5 minutes.

I have seen gory films like Hostel, no bother but I felt true hatred for the writers of Saw 3 as I watched that part of the film.

I was going to answer...the original Hills have eyes when I realised you put that one already, another one that really freaked me out was The Exorcist. I saw it many years ago when it first came out. There were people throwing up outside the cinema they were affected so badly. I couldn't sleep for days
Things are different now and that must seem tame to a lot of you, we have become immune to most of the horror on the screen, I suppose because there is so much of it about, real and fictitious.

The Devils, staring Oliver Reid, it's an old one, it's the only film I have seen, where I left the cinema before the end, I saw it recently on TV, wasn't half as disturbing, maybe I have become more used to disturbing films?

I watched this movie a long time ago...I think it was called The Haunting. It was based on a true story. The stupid thing gave me nightmares. I made my husband destroy it and get it out of the house. I have not watched The Exorcist the whole way through. That is another one that freaks me out!
