Cheerleading in NYC?

Question

I'm curious because I'm not from America, but is cheerleading in every school? Is it mainly for public schools or are there teams at private schools too? And can there be teams at middle schools as well?

Any answers are appreciated.

I can't edit the question title but I don't mean just NYC, more of America as a whole. Thanks!

Most schools both private and public have cheerleading and if not they have some type of spirit or pep team.... Middle school and Jr High Cheerleading is found in most schools but not all... In my hometown for instance we have pee wee football cheerleading for 1st-6th graders and Jr. high for 7-8th and High school 9-12. There are also teams that are All Star teams that offer teams starting at 3 years old......... These teams often get into some REALLY difficult skills.... but it is the MOST fun ever!!! I coach at an sll star gym in Texas!!!

Well, first off.. usually cheerleading "teams" are called squads :)

Cheerleading is not at every school, but it is at most. I know of some public schools that do not have cheerleading squads, but also I know of some private schools that do not - like all girls private schools.

If you're from NYC and looking for a cheerleading squad, I know there are plenty. Just do your research!

Most schools, both public and private have cheer squads. Some, but not all, middle schools have squads as well.
In the private sector you have competitive teams as well "pee wee" athletic teams that have cheerleaders. In many leagues children can start as young as 5.

yes most schools in america have cheerleading and usually they start when kids are like in the 8th grade and private teams usually start when they are like in 3rd grade .

All the universities that aren't from small cities, frequently. Or from a college that has cash for it. My core and top faculties had cheer main squads and they are a public college.
