Am I the only person to see the irony in this?

You people are slating them for what they are doing saying it isn't helping, yet a question is asked about it every 5 minutes. That's what they are looking for, to keep it high profile so people don't forget their daughter. This would have dropped out of the news a couple of weeks ago if they hadn't been doing what they're doing. I don't necessarily like the dad, and yes they made a huge mistake which nobody agrees with, but now they are trying to make up for it by making sure everybody knows about Madeleine.

As they say, any publicity is good publicity.

I'm getting angrier everyday on this subject. It really is starting to make my blood boil. As a mum of a little boy not much younger than maddy I find their behaviour so disturbing. We all handle these situations in different ways obviously but basically turning the situation into a business rather than a campaign scares me.

They are now trekking off this way and that way around the world leaving their poor other two children, as a mother I would not let them out of my sight due to recent events and could not bare to be apart from them. They just seem very cold and composed to me and seem to have lost sight of the real important issue of finding maddy.

If this had been a single mother or someone of what the public would see of lower social standings then I am sure they would not have the same compassion, opportunity and support that they are currently receiving. They would have been condemned and seen as unfit for leaving a 3 year old child unattended in the first place.

There is no irony here you are missing the point.

While a vast number of us disagree with what the McCanns have done and are doing we still want this little girl brought home alive and well. So if talking about her gets her found quicker then so be it. I would worry if the forum goes silent on the subject cos then I would assume we have the answer we are all dreading.

Can I reiterate for the hundredth time that this is a forum where we are allowed to air our view regardless of whether anyone agrees with them or not.

Kinkyboots no1 : You truly are a disturbed individual if you think we would be happy for the McCann's to commit suicide. WE want them to admit they were wrong if they admitted they were in the wrong people like myself would have a smidgen more respect for them.

I do think it's a sad world we live in: a world where people can't let others have their opinion without calling them heartless and making wholly inaccurate statements about the kind of people they are.

My biggest objection is that if it had been myself, a single mother of one, I would have been crucified by the press and the public. The special treatment shown to this one family is disgusting.

Celtic_colieen you are very right when you say that the first 24hrs are the most important. So in knowing that why did the McCanns lie to the police about how often they checked in on them? This surely hindered the time line.

I hate to say it but poor little Maddie is no longer in this world and if she is, she is certainly not in Portugal. Its so easy to get out of that country via the mountains into Spain without coming across border control. I find it hard to believe after all this time she could possibly be alive.

Her parents I suppose want to cling to something positive, something which will stop them feeling so guilty all the time!

I personally would have them prosecuted for leaving those children unattended and alone, who's to say Maddie or the twins at anytime could have woken and went outside looking for their parents!
I really feel for them I do, but their is only so much that can be done, the first 24 hrs where the most important for a kidnapping after that its just hope that you can only cling too.
Its a month passed now, any hope of rescue is futile.
They will have to live with it for the rest of their lives, I know they will suffer everyday for it, but trying to make it as publicised as possible has so far resulted in nothing!

As for the twins, its them I feel most for as they will have to grow up with 2 very disturbed over baring parents trying to make up for what happened by overprotecting the twins, even though they will always come second to their lost sister!

Yes I agree......

there maybe something that may happen for the best in that this may be seen as a catalyst to bring attention to all missing children etc.

I do think some of the publicity is ludicrous in the sense that why would you target the FA CUP when this crime and the perp are abroad.......why should madelaine image by published onto MArble Arch? or have charities already realised the value in this case?

To quote

'As they say, any publicity is good publicity'

I quite agree with that statement you made . We all have our own views regarding the disappearance and the parents . Like you said ,us discussing it in what ever way does keep it in the public domain.

I can honestly say not once have I been abusive to another user on here. Even when I totally disagree with their opinion. It's about time we learnt to debate without throwing insults.

I am not a McCann sympathiser but I definitely am 100% sympathetic to Madeleine.

Yep!! You stated it. you're properly up there. you're actually not addressing subject concerns. you're being a one guy military on an attack against those human beings. As I even have stated already. To what purpose? What do you fairly think of it is going to realize? As to call calling. you have somewhat bit a cheek there. you have admitted on your question approximately soliciting for help on your "tirade" against the McCann's. the way you desire Kate has "nightmares" and the creme de l. a. creme, disparage people who theory an "award triumphing" journalist became into greater useful than YOU. of course they do!! He has in spite of everything won awards. What are YOU triumphing at this precise 2d in time. Zilch!! Edit........ Mrs George Clooney........ you're so precise. This guy can dish it out yet he can not take it.

Well said

The anti Mc Cann clique are sick people and losers to boot , driven by class envy. I bet there is not a single successful person amongst the losers who spit envy at the Mc Canns.

The venom is unacceptable and I hope legal action is taken against some of the people in Yahoo Answers

I believe that if our press were not being so sycophantic towards the McCanns and took off their rose tinted glasses and actually asked more pertinent questions then people on forums and blogs across the world wouldn't need to be doing so.

Great point and totally agree. They are doing exactly what the want, keeping them and therefore their little girl in the public mind.

To all the cynics: you would be trying to exactly the same if you were in their position
