I am trying to make a music video without it being removed from you tube? Any good ideas out there about avoiding copyright issues? Also is it also possible to use clips of shorter length? (video or audio)

duh, the recording you are stealing was made by somebody so they have copyrights. if you went yourself to the concert and managed to sneak in a recorder, then you could avoid the recording rights issue. However if you get caught, you might be put in the cooler for other reasons. copyright is not the only law that has to be observed.

my suggestion is to get a musician or two together and play your own version of the music. you will still need to get permission from the composer, but they are "usually" more reasonable about that. you can then put "used by permission" on the video and have paperwork to back your claims.
