Not necessarily.
Any one who can spot the players weakness and guide him to overcome it in a smooth way will be ideal/.He must assess the pitch condition and opposition strength and evolve the strategy.

Coach is a profession. Even best cricketer cannot be a good coach as coaches should have professional knowledge about the coaching. Unfortunately there is a dearth of professionalcoach in India.
That the reason why many countries including India prefer to have foreign coach. One more advantage of getting foreign coach is that a foreign coach will get more respect from the players especially senior players as compared to Indian Coaches.

A foreign coach will not be bias. but the problem is whoever the coach the board should give the coach the freedom to do his job. In the case of Chappel, the selectors didn't select the suggested players for the world cup, the whole time chappel was developing a young team, and the board all of a sudden choses to send a more experienced older team to the west indies.
We need a foreign coach and give him the freedom to make decisions.

A foreign coach can be objective, and it avoids the cases of rampant nepotism that have haunted the Indian Cricket Board's selections in the past. Frankly, I can't think of any Indian who would be up to the task, except perhaps Kapil Dev. India has fallen behind in the world rankings because it has failed to adopt the new theories and practices of contemporary coaching. In order to access this knowledge you need to get the world's best, and currently that means getting an Australian.

I think that only a foreigner can control the ego of our cricketers. The names we keep hearing as possible replacement of Chappell are not impressive at all. Indian cricket has the financial means to hire the best coaches in the bussiness and for the future of indian cricket we need nothing but the very best coaching available. In my opinion no indian coach is good enough as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think there is need for any coach in india. The BCCI is not not doing right by wasting money on these foreign coaches .In india there are lots of former players who can coach indian team very well.Very few foreign coaches are able to adjust well in these conditions.moreover our team is not so young that they need a foreign coach. They all are well experienced. What is the surety that by bringing in foreign coaches India will start performing like australia?I see no meaning in selecting a foreign coach. Our team needs only a good coach and it can be an indian also.

No! there is no need for foreign coach for Indian team,
there are so many players in India who are ready to handle this responsibility, and we should give them chance instead of going for foreign coach,...
but there are some options like Steve Waugh, If the players like Steve would be ready then nothing will be better than that.

He could probable be a huge failure at it as a head group coach. He wasn't lots as a captain the two. If he has objectives to coach, i think of he could make a solid batting coach extremely to tailenders the place he can coach them the protective technique that have been given him the nickname of the wall. Doing that ought to then get the decrease order defensively solid bearing in mind containing up an end for a mutually as while one good batsman continues to be in. some tailenders staying in letting a appropriate batsman score up the different end can get group scores from 3 hundred to a 450 score

The fact is that none of the old Indian players are professional enough for a coach and they bring too much politics with them.
But foriegn coaches like Dav Whatmore are professional and serious enough for a coach and they rearly bring politics with them
