Using Limewire or other peer-to-peer (P2P) programs to download (steal) music, software and movies etc. without paying for it, is one of the leading causes of virus and trojan infections. Many downloads using P2P file-sharing programs are loaded with malware

LIMEWIRE IS NOT A WEBSITE.

You will be downloading "stuff" from unknown stranger's computers while they will be uploading from your computer at the same time. You do not download from any website.

It is amazing that people who would never accept and eat a sandwich from a stranger, don't think twice about downloading a file to their PC from a perfect stranger, who lives half-way around the World!

If you don't know the difference between a .wmp (good) file from a .wmf (potentially very bad) file or a .zip from a .pif, then stay away from Limewire, Kazaa, and all P2P programs. The same is true if you don't know the difference between a song that is 25kb in size from one that is 3 mb in size. The smaller one is probably a Trojan, just waiting for you to infect your computer with.

P2P file-sharing is no place for computer novices. Even experienced expert users get infected using P2P at times.

If you must use P2P, always scan every file you download with both your anti-virus and your anti-spyware before you open it.

You either regularly visit a website that is giving you them or you have a trojan horse downloader worm on your computer. Get a good anti-virus such as Avast http://www.avast.com and run a thorough full system scan while allowing the resident protection to keep anything new off. (Don't combine anti-virus's, get rid of any active protection of another anti-virus that you might currently have running [it clearly doesn't work anyway so you may as well get rid of it])

The main reason your Trojans keep coming back is because you never truly got rid of them, the reason they keep coming back is because you never turn off system restore, Trojan corrupt system restore.

How to get rid of Trojans:
1. turn off System restore
2. start computer in safe mode with Internet.
3. do a free online scan at one or more of the following until computer is clean

http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan

http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

4. turn computer off then turn back on & turn system restore back on.

5. take a good look at your security because what ever your using its not doing the job.

So stop doing high risk activity. If you dont know how to use p2p software properly, DONT. MOST viruses are no lnger spread through emai, most are spread through P2P

Free music isnt free if you turn your 1500 computer into a 100 computer. First. Copy all your data to flash drive or cd. Do NOT bring over any music, movie or pic you got from a P2P especially the biggest offenders like limewire or bearshare. Then reinstall your OS. Then load ONE good AVirus program, 2 Aspyware and one firewall. Then practice safe surfing.

use avast home edition to perform a boot time scan. its the best way to catch these nasties before they load. also get a good firewall such as zonealarm to stop the trojan connecting to the internet.

That means it is well past time for a format and re-installation. Backup all your stuff you want to keep, scan the folder you put those files into, find all your drivers, your Operating System, and wipe that thing clean!!
