I am thinking of doing this:
I want to open an account.
On the first day i deposit a shilling.
on the second day i deposit 2 shillings
on the third day i deposit 3 shillings.
i continue with this trend for one year( 365 days)
each new day i will be depositing one shiiling more than what i deposited yesterday untill the last day of the year when i will deposit the last instalment of 365 shillings.
At the end of the year(365 days) how much money will i have in my account?

sum=1+2+3+.........365
This is an AP
sum of an AP=n/2(2a+(n-1)d
where n is no. of terms, a is the first term & d is diff. between two consequtive terms.
Sum=365/2(2*1+364*1)
=365/2(366)
=66795

To know the nett amt in ur account, u need to do:
1+2+3+.........365
This is an AP. Since Each day u r depositing, No. of deposits(n) is 365.
sum of an AP=n/2(a + l)
where l is last term & a is the first term.
Sum=365/2(2*1+364*1)
=365/2(366)
=66795 shillings

Suppose you did that for 364 days instead of 365.
Group the first day with the last day: 1 + 364 = 365
Group the second day with the second last day: 2 + 363 = 365
If you continue this you would have 364/2 = 182 groups of 365.
So the answer is(adding day 365):
182x365 + 365 = 183x365 = 66795

hai

i think its like this......
the formula is sn=n/2(2a+(n-1)d)
so...a=1
d=1
sn=365
=365/2(2(1)+(365-1)(1))
=365/2(2=364)
=66795
