...In light of a recent and very much talked about media case involving a small child, I feel inclined to ask:

What happened to sympathy and forgiveness in this country??

At what point did we turn into such a self rightious and judgemental society?

I apologise, quite right, I should have added that this is just my opinion of the society I live in.

Can I just point out that my question did not, in any way, state my opinion on whether the McCanns are right or wrong. I merely suggested that whether a mistake is made or not, people going through hardship deserve some sympathy. And yes, I do include Madeleine in this!

when those who are supposed to suffering, begin a campaign of self promotion, to try and distract the media from the fact the kids were home alone whilst they were out drinking and eating.

If it happened in the UK, social services would be looking into it and considering what to do with the remaining 2 kids.

How often were they left home alone prior to this?

What is the connection with that dodgy neighbour?

There is too much sympathy and forgiveness in this country. I think in light of the whole giving people vast amounts of money for neglecting their children by going and having dinner while leaving them alone proves my point. If you reward the McCanns what will happen next? Should we forgive the person who leaves their child locked in a car when they die from the heat? After all it's a mistake and nothing more. People need to stop being so forgiving and start making an example of people like the McCanns by locking them up rather than giving them money and sympathy. I have sympathy for Maddy but certianly not for her parents.

When will the Mccann Fans get it? Never i suppose is the answer to that one.
Look at the behaviour of the Mcann Duo, both before Madeleine went missing and since. See that? That's why people are asking questions. The people of this country don't like injustice we also have a tradition of finding the crass self publicising, money grabbing attitude of the Mcann's distasteful.
You disagree, Fair enough, i don't understand you & you dont understand me. Agree to differ, thats an English Tradition too.

they left their children all on their own, wile they go out,how many times have they done this before,no one knows if this was the first time, doubt it though, they are flying round the country and getting people to pay for it,they don't deserve forgiveness, they should be done for neglect, the child i feel so sorry for, because of selfish mummy and daddy she has gone,i cant help thinking if they no something about it,why didn't they leave their children at the creche, there was one there,if they had got them ready for bed and dropped them off there this wouldn't have happened,it was to much trouble for them, now they fly around the country getting people to put in to a fund for them to stay over, surely they would be better bringing the other 2 children back so their lives can be as normal as possible, they was supposed to sleep with the other 2 children since the other went missing, didn't take them long to leave them behind wile they go off jetting round to see the pope, they just want the publicity and that in my opinion is sick,if any news comes about maddy they would still get it over here in Britain,if you ask me they are enjoying this, extended holiday paid for by the generous public.they are other children missing and they don't even get a mention, all children are precocious not just one isn't it about time some focus and news went on these others as well.they dont deserve any ones forgivness for being plain selfish and stupid

This country has always been judgemental, we have a sense of fairness and this case is not, this couple seem to be getting a vast amount of publicity and excused for their crime "neglect". I have yet to speak to anyone who share your sentiments.and have found that at least 66% (or there abouts) have little doubt that they were responsible for the abductor to act (on this site)
Sympathy for the child yes but as for the parents they are getting rewarded with favouritism for their wrong doing

this whole thing has turned into "The McCanndid Camera Show" in an attempt to self exhonorate themselves

Some people just have this holier than thou attitude. Yes the McCann's made a mistake, and I am sure they are killing themselves about it more than anyone else has. I 'lost' my son at Blackpool pleasure beach for 15 Min's when he was 5 and it was the worse 15 Min's of my life.

Too hear some people come out and claim that there is 'more to it than meets the eye' without a shred of evidence other than their gut feeling or even say that they deserved it. Words fail me at just how nasty and vindictive people can be.

Madelene was abducted by someone breaking into her bedroom. They are the person responsible for this dreadful situation. Until evidence emerges to the contrary everyone should support this poor family in their dispair at the disappearance of their daughter instead of kicking them when they are down which is just cowardly and despicable.

People who leave their children alone in a strange country while they go out for some food don't deserve sympathy or forgiveness. Anything could have happened to those babies even if one hadn't been snatched. They were irresponsible and now they pay the price. By the way you question is VERY self righteous and judgemental so pot, kettle and black!

Should we be thinking not to where we can place blame - not of our own feelings and morals but of finding this poor innocent child.

Who cares about the feelings of people to whom this has never happened.

What about the feelings of this child, for what is happening to her right now and what might be her future... if there is one?

Legally neglect is a form of child abuse and we have no sympathy for child abusers.

There is no forgiveness for two parents who abandon their children to go out and live it up.

What disgusts me is the people of britain who back the McCanns and agree that what they did was not a big deal. Parents are meant to protect their children not serve their own needs.

Your sympathies should lie with Madeline and not her self serving parents.
