First of all...try another brand. I tried three before I found one that agreed with me.
Second of all...try taking it with food. Eat half of dinner...take the pill...finish dinner.
Third...try taking with milk...helps coat the stomach and lessen the nausea.
Fourth...FYI...without vitamin D, your body doesn't absorb Folic acid...so if she opts for just folic acid...take with vitamin D or a good source of vitamin d like milk.

She should ask the doctor about a different prenatal tablet. They are VERY VERY important to the mom and even more so to the baby. I am sorry she is getting sick, keep crackers and ginger ale by her, and most important, support her.
Most important dont stop the vitamins. If she is not a SUPER HEALTHY EATER, and eating tons of folic acid a day.. dont stop.. Folic acid is an essential nutrient that can help prevent birth defects in newborns. And most prenatals should have at least 400mg of them in one tablet.. Not to mention it will make moms hair and nails great!!
Please ask your doctor and research this before just stopping.. every mom is different and dont take just the advice on here without asking your provider, the mother and baby are most important.
Good luck, and healthy wish on your new bundle of joy!!

she could try taking them at night before she goes to sleep, that way if they are the cause of her illness she will be asleep through most of the unpleasantness. or she could try a different brand, maybe some that are just folic acid without anything else added. it is important to take then during the first twelve weeks, but folic acid can also be found in bread and cereals, so she could get it that way. all that said, worldwide a lot of women do not take any form of vitamins and go on to have healthy babies, so try not worry.

Yes, as long as she's eating plenty of good stuff and still taking her folic acid (the folic acid is the really important one).
Those pregnacare tablets made me incredibly ill too so I totally sympathise with your wife, (and no, it wasn't the morning sickness, it was definately tablet related).
Good luck with the pregnancy.

Some Folic Acid and a healthy diet should be enough. The foilc acid is important in the first 12 weeks. Congratulations xx

Hi, I was the exact same. They made me very sick and just felt horrible in general. My Midwife suggested I change to just plain folic acid which helped a lot. She will be fine though, a lot of food has folic acid in it naturally so maybe she could just try to eat that instead.
I didnt take folic acid at all with my son and he was born perfectly healthy! Good luck

I had terrible morning sickness and so couldn't take any supplements or folic acid whilst pregnant. Both of my children are perfect. The supplements are only an added bonus for the baby, if your wife eats healthily she shouldn't even need them so stop worrying.

Its ok as long as she has a healthy diet and is getting alot of folic acid and other vitamins from different scources. There are great cook books out at the library now for pregnant women. I didnt take anything with my first child as i was young and didnt know better and my son was totally fine. Just help her eat well and stay positive.
Good luck with it all...

I am 12 weeks pregnant and I am not taking any prenatals. I was on them, but they make me sick. A couple suggestions, try taking them at night, try different ones, or she can do what I am doing. I have stopped taking them for now, but once my morning sickness stops I will start taking them again. My mom had 3 kids and didn't take any pills, the key is just to make sure she is taking care of herself.
