Inkjet refill kit

Some companies will take your cartridge and refill it for you. Typically you order prepaid mailers; send the cartridge to them in the mailer; and they send you a refilled and pretested cartridge back.

I have Lexmark 1 ink cartridges and I have had them refilled. It's about 1/2 the price of new and to be honest you get what you pay for. Not all the time, but usually the color quality is off and I've even gotten them back where an entire color is absent! Then you go complain and they do it again and so on...In the long run it's better to just buy new. I wouldn't try a DIY. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!

You can purchase inkjet refill kits. Your mileage will vary on where to buy them, but I have seen them before at some tech stores (CompUSA, Best Buy, etc.) and Costco. In fact, a quick search at Newegg.com brought up the following results: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=inkjet+refill+kit&x=0&y=0
You should consider buying the ones in that link. Newegg is a great online store, and those inkjet kits are really cheap and they sound like they're great quality (judging by the customer reviews).
They will always come with instructions on how to refill the cartridges, and on the back of the packaging it will tell you what printers it supports (since different printers use different colors for their inkjets). You will save a LOT of money doing this, but it is a pretty tedious process, and you have to be careful not to spill any ink on yourself.

There are some injet refill kits. These are messy and a real hassle. Worse, the ink is usually very poor and may clog nozzzles costing you MORE than buying the right cartridge r buying a house brand. Just go to staples/ office max/office depot and trade inyour old cartridge and buy one of their house brands.
