Oden will not be able to dominate his 1st year in the league like Durant will. It is easier to be good on the perimeter than it is on the inside. In a couple of years then look out for Oden.

With Durant being the 3 point shooter that he is and Oden being the big post guy that he is. Durant will be have the bigger impact at first and will look like the better player but over a couple of seasons Oden will become the better player of the 2. Just look at the Oden in 10 years, I bet his team will have won more games than Durants.

First year? Oden.
Durant didn't have great stamina even at the college level, he would frequently start fast then tire out and be invisible in the 2nd half of NCAA games. The NBA is much tougher, so I think he'll wind up having to play limited minutes whereas Oden is ready to roll right away.
In a couple of years I think Durant will be better, but he's got more physical development to go through. Just like Yao's conditioning wasn't that good his first year in the league, Durant will be a similar case. Great, great talent though.

I believe Oden will have an instant impact regardless of whether he will be drafted 1 or 2. As for Durant, if he goes to the Blazers, he will have an impact to the team as compared to if he goes to the Sonics, who still have Allen in the team.

Think about who they will go against on a nightly basis. I think Oden will have a bigger impact, because there aren't many dominant centers in the NBA anymore. Durant will be facing the likes of Kobe, TMac, Shawn Marion, LeBron, Richard Jefferson and so on. I'm a Texas fan, and i saw Durant get bet off the dribble plenty of times.

Oden. There are plenty more Durant type players in the NBA, but there are not as many seven foot big men that can block anything near the rim. And he will be able to be on the floor longer because the refereeing is different.

Definitely Durant. He is recognised as ready to play now. Oden is still going to take some developing. Having said that I'd still take Oden. A seven footer like him comes along once in a blue moon.

I'm a big Greg oden Fan. But I think Duramt will give more instant impact during their 1st year. I even think he will win rookie of the year.
He's a better scorer and a flashier type. he will surely have plenty of highlights.
Big men typically take longer to get develop and mature but when Oden does, watch out. When all's said and done, Oden will be more accomlished championship wise.

I believe Oden will be a more immediate impact especially if he goes to Portland. However, in the long run, I believe Durant will have the overall impact because he can do so many things.
