When i was sick my sons dad took my son to court and said I abandoned him and got legal custody in the state he lives in.He's lived with me for years still but if his dad wants something he says I have custody not you. I can't afford a lawyer but I need to go get that taken care of. Can I do that alone?HELP!!!

You can do it alone, however it is not advised. It is a sad state that our nation has reached, but basically the person wins in the one with best paid attorney. If you have to go it alone check with clerk at the court house as to what their fees are for filing, and get the information up front on which court to address it in. If you don't you could end up in the wrong court, and have wasted your money to file the first time.

There are legal aid attorneys (free attorneys). Contact your local district attorney's, office, and ask them where you can get in touch with someone to represent you. Explain to them what the situation is, and they will be able to refer you to the proper place.
