Not a bad idea, even though it's been done before (not at all star weekend, but the NBA used to have 1 on 1 tournaments throughout the season, and would televise the indivdual games during various "games of the week" halftime shows.

However, if you think the best players in the league are afraid to represent the USA in international competition, you haven't seen anything yet.

Those guys would REALLY head for the hills at any mention of a 1 on 1 tournament during all star weekend.

The league's best players aren't going anywhere near a 1 on 1 tournament...or even just a one time 1-on-1 game (i.e. a series of 1 on 1 games but without the tournament).

It's a nice idea though... bringing something to the fans that a lot of them have never seen. But it's not going to happen.

yeah... that will be fun to watch. the people has gotten tired watching the slam dunk competition. the NBA should find new ways to make the all star weekend a lot fun. this is one of them. imagine having 3 1 on 1 games featuring the best guards, forwards and centers of each conference going against each other.

A 2 on 2 tournament would be better. The two best players on each team. Lots of players will get exposed! Everyone loves to shoot but only a few can play great D.

That's a great idea, some real old fashion ball playing. They can just play 21 and let the next couple play. I don't know why it's not being done anyway. There is too much emphasis on the hoopla than the game itself.

That would be a great idea, seeing Kobe Bryant 1 on 1 with Tmac or Lebron.

No,
Who would officiate? and if players made their own calls, you know some would be bad.
Officials can't make consistent calls now, so I wouldnt care to see a 1 on 1. OR 2-2

I like it! start a petition, I'd sign. Kobe vs. LeBron. Shaq vs. Yao. Good stuff.

have a champ at each position (a point guard vs a center might not be that interesting to watch...then again it might...)
