What a ridiculous comment. It's getting real old hearing all the whining going on about the Spurs being dirty and boring. Like others have mentioned, if the league WAS trying to protect a team, it sure wouldn't be small market San Antonio.
As far as dirty, try actually watching a game. There are fouls by both teams on practically every play. Do you want the whistles blown every 10 seconds ? The Spurs play hard and aggressive. They've studied the past champions and have seen what it takes to get to that level. Most of the other teams and players are more interested in their shoe deals, press clippings, revenue margins, etc. As far as the boring comments- teams like the Spurs, Pistons and Jazz play the way the game is supposed to be played and that's why they've made it this far and the others are out of it. All flash, no defense, no teamwork = NO CHAMPIONSHIP ! Get it thru your heads you jealous , whiney, so-called fans.

Quote from enzyme 305, "They are the darlings of the NBA, but they are not the best team."
If they're not the best team, then why are they going to the Finals?? Why do they have 3 rings?? Who is the best team then? Not the Mavs, not the Suns, not the Jazz, not Golden State, or Miami. It's the Spurs. Stop being a sore looser.
Go Spurs Go!!

Dirty? I dont know why people would label them that. Boring probably, but dirty? Not at all. You have two defensive NBA first team in the spurs, bowen and duncan, and thats because they were chosen to be there. Fans didn't choose them to be there, NBA experts chose them to be there. Experts that watch the game because thats their living, their so called-life. Maybe you should blame those experts for awarding your so-called dirty players as the best defense in the NBA.
And Darling? What?? thats insane. The NBA is a market, and obviously wants to expand, bigger profits. If the NBA was to pick any team to reach the finals, they'd be picking the more exciting teams. Say the suns, lakers, GS and other teams that loves to run, dunk, and do alley-oops (lots of turnovers also).
The spurs would win because they play as a team at both ends of the floor.. thats the bottomline. Protected? pleasee...

Let's see..
They beat Denver,Phoenix and now Utah and you have the audacity to say they are not the best? Who is? Do you think it's the Mavs too? The ones that lost to the #8 seed in the first round of the playoffs? The Mavs have top notch players on their team but how many rings do they have again? Sorry that does not constitute being the best. The Spurs will earn another ring this year. Nothings given. Nobody gets nothing for free!!! If they did the Suns and the Mavs would have that ring their fans can only envision!!! HA!HA!
GO SPURS GO!!!!

Where does this RIDICULOUS notion that the Spurs are dirty come from- the sour grapes Stoudewhiner fans??
The Spurs play a tough, physical style of defense but it's clean and the bottom line is they execute better than anyone else in the league. That's why they've been a lock to win the title every odd year since 1999 (OK, they missed one in 2001 when Shaq & Kobe got their 2nd ring, but that's all)
People complain & whine about Ginboli's flops, but what about Nash's flop when Horry gave him the shoulder? That arms flailing act belonged in Shaolin Soccer! Yes, Horry have him a good hard foul, probably a little too hard (hence the 2 games he sat out) but nothing over-the-top and certainly not vicious like Raja Bell's infamous clothesline of Kobe Bryant! And neither of those guys are remotely close to the theatrics of Vlade "flopmeister" Divacs!
News flash: they ARE the best team, they have been for years. Last year Duncan was hurt, so Dallas snuck by 'em and got embarassed by the Heat.
Granted, the Spurs have perfected the shocked "who, me" looks whenever refs call them for fouls, but that just demonstrates that refs DO call fouls against them!
Spurs > Phoenix > Jazz > anybody in the east
Dallas? Flashy regular-season team that's soft. They fold like paper under 4th-quarter pressure. Giving Dirk the MVP over Nash was a travesty.
Go, Spurs, Go!!!!

I really don't see why people think the NBA would protect the Spurs. They are a ratings disaster in the Finals (except in '99, when they were playing the huge-market Knicks), casual fans think they're boring, and in a star-driven league, they have the most low-key star in the NBA. Can you imagine the ratings if Phoenix or even Golden State were playing against Cleveland or Miami in the Finals? Yes, Ginobili flops. So did Vlade Divac. Yes, Bruce Bowen plays dirty. So did Bill Laimbeer. Yes, they get a lot of calls. So did Dwyane Wade and Michael Jordan. Yes, they whine. So did Larry Bird's Celtics. It's just the nature of the beast.

No. As for the dirtiest team, I don't know. But the most protected team is by far the Suns and Steve Nash. They are the golden Boys of the league. Watch for a rule change next year all because of what happened to the Suns in the Spurs-Suns incident.

i don't believe they are darlings of the nba....the spurs doesn't sell much to the fans cuz they think they are boring and are tired of seeing them as winner, they just win....so why would the nba want a team like that to win???? the spurs are maybe a little dirty but it's all becoming a part of the game....they are not the dirtiest, other teams can be dirtier than them....they just need to address a few things like:
> bowen's dirty defense....it's not really that pleasant especially to the fans....
> ginobili's flopping....it's really frustrating to watch and he should stop it....(and the refs should also stop buying it)....
> they should shake loose a bit and give some for the fans....a few fancy plays and showtime moves won't hurt( i hope duncan is reading this part)....just to give some fans a reason to say "wow" and not say "boring"....

Very few people outside of San Antonio like the Spurs. If you mean that the Spurs are dirty because they play hard and play as a team then you're right. You can call them whatever you want to, I just call them Champions. Stop crying and sit back and watch them win another championship.

NBA Teams & their fans who whine that the Spurs are dirty are just SORE LOSERS.
Take notice that the only teams who complain are the ones who DO NOT have NBA TITLES.
Those WHINERS would trade places with the spurs in a heartbeat if given the chance.
GROW UP!!!
