practise giving pre exams at home on exactly the same pattern as yr school/college etc.try getting someone else make yr question paper for this at-home-testing and keep a watch with alarm to indicate time limit.this way u can increase yr output in exam by almost 30-40%
these days this method is followed in most schools and competitive inst. all over the world.

Best thing to do is study and take practice tests. You should also get in the habit of reviewing questions once you have finished them before turning in said exam(s).

Read the questions carefully, and go over your answers again before turning in you exams.
