Hi I would say the original MAD MAX movie with Mel Gibson is a cult motor cycle movie classic. Made in 1979 on a low budget it was a box office hit for an Australian made movie.
And of course Alfred Hitchcock's PSYCHO was the first of it's kind .Made in 1960 in black and white it is a study in suspense and shock.Nothing like it had ever been seen before. It has been imitated ,copied and even remade but it is still the best .

An movie a group of persons will get dressed up for and watch at midnight again and again religiously.
That would mean Rocky Horror, Star Wars, Star Trek, Anything by Ed Woods or John Waters, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Re-animator, Army of Darkness, The Toxic Avenger and most Troma films.
Generally they are R rated and either a science fiction or horror movie. Rocky Horror is both.

cannibal the musical, the willies, sleepaway camp, donnie darko, pi, requiem for a dream, black snake moan (not yet, but will be.) meet the feebles, the burbs, dream a little dream, of course rocky horror picture show (although i hate it.) the dark crystal, rooftops, phantasm, killer clowns from outer space. plan 9 from outer space.
basically anything that wasnt a success at first then found popularity later on for years to come - i guess the wizard of oz fits the description too.

RHPS is a good example. Um, Heathers, Evil Dead, Sin City. Those movies that a select few are madly in love with, for reasons that don't need to be explained to others outside of their realm.
