What's the usual dose of valium that doctors prescribe? I have been prescribed 2mg and it doesnt seem to do anything for me. And too, how do I go about asking him to up it. If I say it's not working then he will put me on something else and I don't want that because nothing else works. If I had to put it's effect into percentage I'd probably say it works 10%
PLEASE Help!!!

Yeah this is a response to damron's comment...I am not looking for a "get high" drug. I asked a straight question and expected a straight answer not an accusation. That was rude. Like I said before I do have a prescription and do not need to tell you why I have been put on them. WOW!

2 mg is a decent dose, this can be increased to 4 mg if you are not getting desirable results, however, there are other alternative anti-anxiety meds available

Valium has many uses such as . Sedative .anti anxiety .anti spasmotic 2mg may be a maintenance dose however if the result is not happening for you the next dose may possibly be 5mg.
Asking the dr to up the dose I understand is fairly hard for you. What I would do is down load information from your computer justifying your cause (I have done this recently in relation to another drug) You may find another drug that better improves your situtation. Armed with your down loaded information you could give it to him/her and diplomatically say that you have developed an interest in your condition and researchd the area. If you are not happy with your Dr then you could consider a second opinion. I wish all the best.

You need to becareful as Valium is highly addicting. There is a 5mg tablet that you could discuss with your doctor, but it will affect your ability to drive a car and possibly make you drowsy. Normally the 10mg is reserved for pre-operations or someone who has extreme agitation. That is why he probably put you on the lower dosage, to medicate you without making you where you cannot function at a normal level.

You're on the lowest dose possible. The doses are from 2-10 mg depending on the person. You could call him and tell him that you're only experiencing minor improvement and he may up the dose.

2mg is probably right if you just started. but what do you expect it to do? that's not a get high drug if that's what you're trying. check this out.
