I heard that it is mainly used in aerospace in lanuching the rocket. Please tell me more if you know. Thank you.

The Kalman filter I learned about in engineering class is an optimal filter for recovering a signal in the presence of noise or interference and is usually implemented as a software algorithm. The Wikipedia article has some rather hairy math in it, but you might be able to get the general idea of what a Kalman filter does from the text. Also has tons of links.
