The place is also called "The French Rivera of the east".
I stayed in Chennai for three and a half years and travelled down to Pondicherry number of times. Having that experience in handy, I would say.....
Pondicherry...she is poised and elegant....if you consider the French side of the town....she is in "rags" if you go down to the Tamil part of the town.
You get to stay in a French Villa, enjoy Creole cuisine with Bordeaux Wine, Deep Blue Seas and the Bright Sun.....all that I love about Pondicherry.
Last but not the least... try to drive down from Chennai through East Coast Road, one of the best toll road in India. Any Sedan will cruise somooth above 120KMPH on this road.
