AOL HighSpeed Internet service is usually cheaper. I'm not sure how it works, but somehow they manage to get cable Internet service in two flavors where I live. =) It's the same price as dial-up for some providers.

There Is No Comparison Between Broadband & Dial Up.
Broadband Is Extremely Better Than Dial Up.
It Is Most Of The Time A Little More Expensive Than Dial-Up Depending Upon Where You Live (Rural Vs. City), & There Is Equipment Involved, But If You Use The Internet For Anything More Than E-Mail, It Is Worth Every Penny....
Once You Switch To Broadband, You Will Never Want TO Go Back...

Hope This Helps!

Broadband will definitely cost more as it gives you more speed, but it is entirely dependent on your usage and your computer specification. Most of the lower speed broadbands (<10 Mbps) will do with very small specification PCs, but if you are applying for higher speed broadbands (> 25 Mbps), then you may need higher specification PCs. As for usage, if you just use your PC for more than 2 hours per day with internet on, then it is definitely worth the price to get broadband.

Also please note that you may need to ask them about the limit per month that you are allowed to use as certain ISP may put a limit on your data transfer. More than that, you may need to pay extra. If they have unlimited plan, then you can use it as much as you want.

It will not be a hassle as long as you are competent enough in IT. In most cases, the people from your ISP will help you to set it up, so there is really not much of a hassle.

As for the period of activation, different ISP will have varying time of activation. Some may only activate a few days after registration, or some may activate on the date that you stated when you register for the service. For more information about this, you need to give your ISP a call.

Hope those helps =)

Broadband is the way to go. As for cost increase, that depends on how much your are paying for dialup, but it usually runs in the $30 a month neighborhood. Can't tell you how long your particular service provider will take to hook you up. Give them a call and ask.

It depends, if you go with DSL it will use your phoneline. If you go with cable than it will use the same line as for your TV's cable. Both are about the same install.
