What version of Windows are you using? Sounds like Explorer is locking up because it's a bad floppy. If the computer has a hard time reading the content on the floppy it will freeze explorer. If you take out the floppy does it give you a blue screen or does it become unfrozen?

Can you take the floppy somewhere else and use it? If so, could be the floppy drive itself.

If you are using the floppy for storing documents. Get a USB drive. They are cheap and fast!

may be the floppy disk is corrupted

you can zip your file and upload them to any free file hosting web site and then download it again instead of this boring floppy disks

Scan and defrag and restart And check for a virus or worm
If this doesn't work then you need to check the disk or you may have a fault
