It's a confused quote from Douglas Adams' "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"
In the book, this race of aliens build a super duper computer and ask it, "What's the meaning of Life, The Universe and Everything?"
The computer thinks about it for a million years, or so, and tells their decendants, "You're not going to like the answer"
When pressed, the computer tells them that "the answer to life the universe and everything is....42"!
Very funny book. Poor version done as a movie, the book is much better.
Hope that clears that up for ya....

69 is the answer. 4 plus 2 is 6 and turn that over and yu have 69. During the mind expanding '60's, after many doses of recreational medications and a lot of soul searching I found the meaning of life. It is pu**y. Everything a man does in life is either searching for or supporting the same, now you can see why 42 is definately the answer for all questions.

It's from "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy". They find the "answer" is 42. Then they realize they don't know what the question is, etc...
It's just a stupid cultural reference (from a great book)

24.......oh wait i'm dyslexic yet heavily human beings constantly answer 40 two because of the fact there is somewhat no answer to that question. why could each thing have a meaning? could you cram each thing into packing containers and label them and organize them alphabetically? merely stay and attempt to discover and comprehend all you are able to approximately this remarkable universe in which you so fleetingly finally end up. this is the element of existence. to savor it. it has no meaning. that's what that's, you dont could attempt to discover it, it exists in each and each 2nd as you exist in each and each 2nd.

Thats what I kept on asking my brother in law Darn it!!! I think it means that after searching and computing thousands of years and found squat, that there is no real meaning to life. We live because law and physics allow us too. What makes us any different from water? We are mix of diffferent things that slowly evolved and now work togethor to create life. We really are just like plain objects who's purpose is to help each other.

haha...apparently...and this is purely hearsay...because in Douglas Adams's book A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a computer spitted out 42 as the answer to all of life's questions... personally i think HHGG is very nerdy

The moral of the hitchhiker's book is: Don't exhaust yourself trying to figure out the meaning of life, just enjoy it.
