every time Vista starts it says I'm having a Runddll32 error and says it has to shut down rundll32.

and if i open the control panel it says windows explorer must restart and the whole desktop restarts. it's very anoying. does anyone have any advice?

on the Start>Run... menu type msconfig then choose Startup then uncheck any entry that has rundll32 in it

It sounds like some system files are corrupted- reboot from the Vista CD and let it attempt to repair your installation.
