What the people above wrote is correct but it can also be

-(5)^2 -3

-25 - 3 = -28

-5^2 = -1 x 5 x 5

parentheses are very important ;). Did you mean (-5)^2 or -5^2?

Anything to the 2nd power is squaring the number. Any negative number (-5) will turn positive when it is squared/multiplied by itself (-5 x - 5 = 25, same as 5x5=25)..

25-3=22

negative five to the power of 2 times negative 3? think of it like this -5 times itself twice is 25. 25 times negative 3 equals negative 75 because a positive times a negative is always negative

-5squared is -25 (the - sign is only included when you square it if it looks like this [-5]^2

then subtract three
(like add three plus 25 and put a negative sign in front of it...)

hope it helps!
