If I understand you correctly, you are in a big freeze.

- press and hold the I/O button for 6-7 seconds until the PC turns off.
- turn off AC at the power switch.
- wait a minute
- turn back on

See if you are o.k.
If so, run your antivirus program in Safe Mode and see how it goes.

Then, run a Disk Cleanup, Scandisk and defrag - this should be done every two weeks anyway.

If you have been making adjustments to the HD, you may need a Windows Repair. Here are a couple links:

CTRL-ALT-DELETE

Have you tried that?

Spybot is free. I don't use PC anymore so not up to date on the virus stuff. When I was that's what I used.

if Explorer.exe can not run correctly you have no taskbar and even start menu.make sure if your explorer.exe is correct.
to do this hold Ctrl+Alt+Del and click on new task and type Explorer.exe
and see what would happen.
