Whew! I wish that it was only a couple hundred bucks for me!!! We don't have great insurance because neither my husband's nor my job pay for it so we had to get a plan on our own- We make too much for medicaid. My prenatal visits (and delivery charges for the doc) were around $1500, the hospital was about $300 for me and $300 for my son, and the circumcision and other procedures at the hospital were $400- Yep, a womping $2500 or more and now the diapers and clothes are adding up as well. Every insurance company is different, so if you are asking for your own sake, check with your insurance company to see what percentage they cover- my doctor had us on a payment plan throughout the pregnancy so it was not $2500 all at the time of delivery. My precious little one was worth every penny, but it does stink that if we were just a little poorer or if we lived somewhere else it would have been paid for- it does irritate me that there are many out there that take welfare for granted and have tons of kids on someone else's dime- (no offense to those who truly need the help- this is directed to those women who just keep having kids without any thought of what kind of responsibility it is)

My insurance had a $250 deductible and then 70% coverage for most things (though they covered some at 80%, don't know why). So even with insurance, we paid about $4000 out of pocket for my repeat c-section. My pregnancy fell over 2 different coverage periods so I had to pay the deductible twice for myself then once for the baby. And all the bills without insurance were upwards of $20,000. That was 6 months ago in Idaho.

It depends on your insurance. With the birth of my first child, it was an uncomplicated vaginal delivery, and I paid only $15 (for the initial visit with my ob/gyn). Everything else (baby's hep. immunization, the delivery itself, hospital charges, etc.) was covered at 100%. My insurance changed slightly the next year and went to an 80/20 plan. (I was responsible for paying 20% of the bill.) That son was born via c-section, and I think all total, we ended up paying maybe $1,800, roughly.

Depends on the insurance. For my pregnancy, no complications it cost me 260 in copays. For delivery, c-section and 3 days in the hospital 250 for copay. I had an HMO with a copay of 20 per visit. Check with your insurance.

With my oldest son I had Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield and I only paid a $100 copay for ALL prenatal care, labor and delivery fees, and hospitalization!!
With my second son, we were with Cigna on an 80/20 with a $1500 deductible. We spent $3600 for all prenatal, labor and delivery and hospitalization...plus an additional $516 for lab work for a grand total of $4116!
So really, it just depends on your level of insurance coverage.

My insurance is through my husbands work. It is United Healthcare. The plan pays 80% after the deductible has been met. These were my costs:
First visit to OB: $25
OB Bill: $1300 (includes my $1000 deductible)
Hospital Bill: $11000. My part was like $2400.
Pediatrician visit to newborn in hospital: $44

That depends on what type of insurance plan they have, what company they have it with, what state they live in, who their doctor is and how much he/she charges as well as what hospital they go to and how much they charge, whether they have a midwife, or intend a homebirth, there are too many variables to approxmiate.

my husband works for the city and his insurance is GREAT: (blue cross blue sheild of michigan. )
i paid $17 for my flu shot, $50 for an emergency room visit in the middle of the night when i started bleeding at 3 months, and $20 for two prenatal vitamin prescriptions and not a penny more for anything!
$87.
that included about 25 pre-natal visits with no co-pays (one visit a month till 7 months, and then once a week till delivery), a high-risk doctor who was on-call 24 hrs a day, five ultra sounds including 3-D's and one entire ultrasound visit on video (though my husband showed it to so many people that he lost it shortly after we got it), parking at the hospital during every visit,
and all of the following during my labor and delivery:
an induction and a c-section (at my request because i didn't want a vaginal birth),
hospital stay from wednesday night to sunday morning,
a diaper bag,
two packages of Pampers,
baby t-shirts,
receiving blankets,
rags,
formula,
coupons for more baby stuff,
an abdomen sincher (to wear around the tummy and help slim you up),
super duper maxi pads,
a steak dinner for me AND my husband with shrimp cocktail, salad and carrot cake dessert,
sandwhiches for my hospital guests who stayed with me during my delivery,
medication for gas, for pain, and for stool softening,
a room with a jacuzzi and a fold out sofa, fridge, tv, rocker and table and chairs,
unlimited guest during labor and delivery,
and
a little beeper tag on my new babies' ankle so that alarms would go off if someone tried to remove her from the maternity ward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my hospital was St. John Morross in Michigan and i swear, i'll have all my children there and i'll pay out of pocket to have 'blue cross blue shield of Michigan' insurance forever!!!
this is no lie, either!! i paid $87 for all of that and was never asked (or billed) for a co-pay!!

It depends on the insurance. Check your policy on how much they cover.
