Whats he name of the horror movie that has people escaping off of an island from rabid dogs?

I think it was a black and white movie, so around the 60's. The people were in a house, late at night, and had to go out the back of the house, and hiding in barrels, walking to the ocean, to get to a boat. The rabid dogs would try to bite them. Scared the hell out of me when I was a kid,,was hoping to find it to scare the hell out of my kids,,thanks,,

...now, let's see....a group of people on an island.....an attack by a pack of 'dogs'.....a desperate escape via a bunch of tied-together barrels.....unmistakenly, you're talking about the ultra-low budget cheapie from 1959, entitled "The Killer Shrews"

A scientist on a remote island, is working on the problem of world-wide population; unfortunately, his experiments creates an enlarged, and dangerously vicious & hungry species of shrews (rodents). A group of people, trapped on the island as a result of a hurricane, must work together to get off the island....as well as avoid being eaten by the creatures!!!

Due to lack of imagination, and the miniscule budget of the film, the filmmakers took actual dogs, covered them with what looked like shag carpeting, and put crooked & extra large fangs in their mouths; for the dogs less cooperative to this make-up job (i.e., for close-ups), fake 'shrew' heads were made up. I recall, most distinctly, the scene where the survivors tied together a bunch of barrels, in an attempt to get to a boat on the beach.....and those fake 'shrew' heads 'angrily and voraciously', trying to infiltrate the barrels from beneath (more like being shaken and shoved in, like some kind of nightmarish puppet!!!).

...this made for one of the best 'so-bad-it's-good' films ever made; one of my favorites!!!

The film has been in public domain for years, and should be fairly easy to find on DVD (as indicated below).
