Does anyone have a pet turtle they want to get rid of? I recently bought a 29 gal aquarium and wanted a pet turtle, aquatic of course. I dont want to get one out of the wild. I dont want to pay a lot for shipping, most stores charge you more than the cost of the turtle to ship it. Do you know any breeders or anyone in northern Indiana? Any help at all, please.

get a pig-nosed turtle AKA fly river turtle. I have one. Just make sure that you gat a turtle that is almost the size of your palm. They are more likely to survive with you than the smaller ones. They are fully aquatic turtles and lives on freshwater. Res eared sliders are not fully aquatic, they also need time on land. Sliders are just semi-aquatic turtles. Try the internet for some sellers.

Don't capture a wild turtle and keep it. Not only are you taking it out of it's habitat (it can no longer breed and make baby turtles), the stress of being in captivity can weaken it's immune system making it sick -- even killing it.

Go to a reputable pet store.

they are actually not very affectionate in any respect yet could be dealt with without biting. I even have 3 turtles (have had them for 4 years now) and that they have grown somewhat huge. they're crimson earred terapin turtles. i've got have been given them while they have been basically babies. besides, affectionate in the direction of me, not whilst quickly as. you are able to p.c.. them up and cope with them no issue yet they teach no signs and indicators of love. they're neat to have nevertheless. fantastically while they hunt. they're in a 80 gallon tank with plastic clay rocks to take a seat back on so as quickly as I put in some feeder fish, they bypass searching! its somewhat cool... Sorry, getting somewhat off subject count yet regrettably, the respond is not any.

If you have a Petco or a Petsmart in your area, they sell turtles I'm sure. If not, you could look online for breeders in your area. Good luck :-D

Just make sure the "Carapice" or shell is over 6" in diamerter. Anything smaller is illegal for a reason, it's called "Salmonella" and can make you sick or even kill you, especially the elderly and children. There is nothing wrong with getting one from the wild.

Just take a two hour ride through the countryside and you'll see one slowly crossing the street. They don't snap, they will just pee on you. That's the way they defend themselves.
