I love any kind of sports, but mainly football and basketball. But, I am shy, until i get into the mood. It depends on how i feel. But what are the chances that I could possibly become a news reporter for ESPN?

Remember -- ESPN anchors and reporters are mostly hired for performance on the air, which involves a large set of skills such as diction, language usage, presentation, etc. Sports knowledge is down the list. And there are millions of people who know who Peyton Manning is; ESPN wants people who can ask him a good question when the time comes.

You probably have a better chance at becoming a pro athlete than an ESPN news reporter. However, if it's something you'd like to pursue, I'd suggest a four-year degree in a broadcasting or telecommunications program from a prestigious university.

Find out where the current reporters and anchors went to college and go from there.

You sound like a girl so I'm going to assume you are one. First and most important you have to be pretty. Most men don't take female sports newscasters seriously. You have to be pretty to hold their attention. Have you ever seen an ugly one? No. Second you need to go to college and get a communications degree. After that when you go to interview for the job just make sure you've brushed up on all sports knowledge for when they ask you questions.

well even though u love sports and could become motivated enough to actually become less shy, u might want to make sure u have the right education skills to qualify first. i used to be very shy myself and then i relized i had a lot more fun and things went soo much better when i just spoke up, (it didn't kill me u know.) so beforhand make sure u have the credintals to apply for a sports reporter first then take it from there.

Your chances improve dramatically when it becomes your true goal. Shyness? You can do better than that. Peace and may the Hand of God be upon you.

OMG I WANT TO BE THAT TOO!

Just take it slow and you don't really have to be outgoing. You just have to be good in front of a camera.
