During the 2000 and 2004 Elections, the Bush campaign repeatedly used the terms "Compassionate Conservatism", "Born Again Christian", "Faith", and "Morals" to get poor Republicans (particularly the ones in the South and the Bible Belt) to vote for Bush. However, after Bush got all of the poor Republicans' votes, he cr*pped all over them by ignoring their problems.

A couple of my old poor Republican Army buddies who were stationed with me in Fort Campell got screwed on their military benefits, and they had to do repeat tours in Iraq when they were facing financial, family and other various problems. Nobody in their Chain of Command cared about them. It seemed like Bush, his administration, and the higher-ranking military officials were willing to ship the troops off to Iraq regardless of what the their situations were. They constantly get screwed.

So, do the "elitest" Republicans even care about poor Conservatives?
It seems like the only thing they want are their votes.

Get the book: "Conservatives Betrayed: How George W. Bush and Other Big Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause"
by Richard A. Viguerie

Synopsis:
An essential training manual for all conservatives.

• documents exactly how the Republican Party – under President Bush’s leadership – has betrayed conservatives and conservatism on most fronts

• lays out a plan for conservatives to once again take control of the Republican Party from the Big Government Republicans

• shows how conservatives can move all public policy to the right (including the Democratic Party) by acting like a third force – but not a third party

• explains how conservatives got into this mess, and how we will achieve a rebirth of conservatism

Yes...yes they do. I once considered myself a republican, I voted for bush both terms and looking back I can honestly say I'm sorry I did. Bush isn't a true conservative he's a neocon. When bush ran in 2000 he ran on a TRUE conservative platform, lower taxes, smaller government, and a humble foreign policy. Aside from a few tax cuts that benefited only a small group of people he has done just the opposite of what he promised! He played all of us for fools to get what he wanted.
As far as "the poor" as referred to in the question, it has always been the position of TRUE conservatives that we should take care of and provide the best we can for our service men for the commitment that they are making for us and the rest of our country men in the defense of our land. Many of our modern republicans look at our military and the rest of the country as a business to be managed, "how much profit can we make today boys". America is not a corporation to be run, there is more to it than just business and economics, they have forgoten that the positions that they hold are positions of service to all the people of the states they represent and not just those that are in their tax bracket!

This is a bunch of JUNK. I'm not falling for anything. i think you need to start thinking for yourself instead of believing everything the liberals and media tell you. The dems won in 06 not because they had any good ideas, but just because of anger at republicans. And i admit that the GOP was worthless for a few years, especially on domestic issues. however, the democrats want to grow the government bureaucracy, and they are much more power-hungry than the gop has ever been. The dems have not done diddly since getting into office. they sure haven't shown the big change in the govt that they promised

If there were someone worth voting for on the other side, perhaps the outcome would have been different. Dems have no one at all that is American minded. They always use the same 'tax the rich, give to the poor' platform. None are qualified.
Unfortunately, no party has anyone rising to the top, for my vote in 2008. Seems no one, qualified, wants the job these days. Can't imagine why!!??

Interesting question considering that the dumbocrats base is comprised primarily of the lower end of the economic spectrum. Without poor uneducated union workers and minorities, and in some counties, the dead, the dumbocrats wouldn't stand a chance.

Yes they do. Poor conservatives are probably exploited in the same ratio that rich Liberals exploit poor Democrats.

Bless your heart, you deserve a star. I agree with you. They win working class Republican votes by cooking up bogus bits about terrorists invading America, gay marriage, intelligent design, and so on.

They already have the rich Republican vote on things like tax cuts on investment income and corporate friendly legislation.

At it's core, the GOP is a party of plutocrats that surrounds itself with serfs who believe anything other than what they have ever known is Euro-socialist treason.

What do you want Bush to do? Give a million dollars to every poor conservative? I could say the same about democrats, this is a capitalist society, there will always be poor people. Please dont buy into the democrat socialist bullcrap. WE CANT TAX EVERYONE WHO WORKS SO POOR PEOPLE CAN LIVE MIDDLE CLASS. THIS IS NOT A COMMUNIST COUNTRY! (even though the top democrats want it that way).
