You are rewarded with an incredible view of both the lowest (the Death Valley Salt Pan, 282' below sea level) and highest (Mt. Whitney, 14,495' above sea level) points in the contiguous United States. Truly a rugged place.

What? This question doesn't make sense. Sea level is sea level. Any given location is either at, above, or below sea level. The answer to your question as stated is: death valley's sea level is sea level. Maybe your question should ask what is death valley's elevation in regards to sea level.

If you look at the cliff behind the parking area at Badwater it is painted as a big black dash mark and it says Sea Level.

On I8 east of San Diego you can see a similar mark on the smoke stack of a sugar beet plant.
