Who would have thought 6 years ago that bases there were even remotely possible?

Bush has really pulled one off.

It is purely a win/win situation, isn't it?

Saddam would not allowed us to have bases there. I know about all the other bases we have. I am just celebrating the newest. Saddam is rolling over in his grave.

Who would have thought bases in Iraq was even remotely possible????? My dear, you are naive. The US. has more than 700 bases world wide. Why would it have been impossible to build bases in Iraq. We have bases in other countries of the Middle East including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Arab Emirates, Bahrain. Besides before we cut Saddam off, he was in our pocket and we supported him and gave him all the chemical weapons he needed for his eight year war against Iran so NO, it would have been very easy for us to have put military bases in Iraq. But I agree, we will never pull out of Iraq because they have the second largest reserves of oil in the world and we want to keep our greedy hands on it.

Not a pretty picture unless you are proud of the fact that the US has become an overbloated empire which is most likely to come crumbling down just like any other empire in history.

Who would have thought? Who could have thought is a better way to phrase it. The war was going to be over in a matter of weeks and the troops would all come home. Now you say they will be there indefinitely. How is that win/win?
