If white light were emitted from Earth's surface and observed by someone in space, would its spectrum be continuous? Explain.

Continuous, yes. White, no. There's considerable (but not total) absorption in the infrared and ultraviolet ranges but not as much in the visible range where "white" is defined. See the ref.

not continuous. primarially, the atmosphere would absorb some colors more than others. also, the magnetic field would distort the path of certain wavelengths, so the hue might be different depending on viewing angle
