Miss Bacall, of course.
Miss Monroe was talented and could play both comedy and drama. However, Miss Bacall was/is simply more talented -- such is her skill and stage presence that she can make an audience laugh merely by raising an eye brow. She also possesses a much more expressive and interesting voice -- smoky, arch, sinewy, etc.
To her credit, Miss Monroe studied acting quite a lot. I think she would have continually gotten better had she lived longer.

Lauren Bacall is an actress with depth. Unfortunately, Hollywood does not often continue to utilize their legends after a certain age.
I would surely appreciate seeing her again in a movie.
While waiting for an audition at the Minskoff Theater on Broadway in New York City, I went quickly to the ladies room. While washing my hands, out of one stall walks Lauren Bacall. I couldn´t believe it. I managed a meek "Hello". She said, "Hello". She was extremely elegant, graceful, humble and friendly.

Lauren Bacall by far -- she is a tremendous actress who has handled the losses in her life with grace and dignity. And, she is still as beautiful as ever. Her films are all memorable.

Lauren Bacall in To Have and To have not, to Bogart: you recognize you do not ought to behave with me, Steve. you do not ought to assert something, and also you do not ought to do something. no longer a difficulty. Oh, possibly basically whistle. you recognize the thanks to whistle, do not you, Steve? you purely positioned your lips at the same time and... blow. and there are a ton more beneficial in this action picture. If Lauren Bacall can no longer help, no you'll. IMDB costs is a strong source.

Bacall had far more class, and had finer talent.
Monroe had the Kennedy scandal, you never heard about a Bacall scandal.

Bacall
Well, it wasn't Marilyn's fault she got all the dumb roles, that's what the studio offered her. She always played the dumb blonde. Bacall, along side her husband Bogart got to play the smart, blonde.
