My feeling has always been that if Casey Sheehan knew what his mother did (anti-war protesting) following his giving his life for all of us in the U.S. that he would have detested her actions. Speaking for myself and my son who was a Navy Seal, when I was upset about his exposure to harm, he said "Please, mom, respect my choices, respect my loyalties; any feelings you have against my service are a dishonor to me." I feel that just about any service person defending the US and its positions MUST demonstrate this dedication in order to survive the rigors of war. Otherwise it would be too easy to give up and let yourself be blown to smithereens.

She has dishonered all military.....she is not a true American, lots of people have lost a loved one and not acted like her. I thank God everyday for the brave that keep us free. It takes someone with a lot of guts to go to war, not the spinless ninnies who protest it.

Ms. Sheehan, I think did A great thing! I am a Republican, and a veteran, and married to a woman who lost her son!!! The government always needs to be questioned. It is our duty as citizens, and our right under the constitution. The big mistake hear is the white house staff. Ms. Sheehan lost her child. Why did'nt anyone from the white house aknowledge that? What is up with the press secretary? Why does the current administration insist on destroying the republican party? Heck we don't even have a canidate for president yet? We might as well let Mrs. Clinton have the keys to the house now...Heck what about Cindy Sheehan? Cindy for president...

I feel the same, that Cindy Sheehan's anti-war protesting shows a lack of respect for her son's service and values.
I'm sure she sees it differently.
Casey himself, however, is in no way dishonored by his mother's craziness.

I feel like she disrespected the honor of her son for the simple fact that being in the service was something that he obviously loved and when he joined he knew that dying was a possiblity as is the the purpose of joining the millitary to defend your country and possibley die in the processe....but at the same time you have to understand that this woman was hurting she lost her son her only.....you have to know where she is coming from... her son was blown to pieces

The grieving process, can make people behave, in ways they would not have before their loss. I think her grieving process was exploited by the left and when they were done with her they distanced themselves.
I don't condemn this woman. She has wisely decided to leave public life.
I am a moderate Democrat, but I still blame the Democrats for exploiting this woman's grief.

Also merely being against the war does not make someone against the troops.
The troops do not make war policy.
I know many veterans who believe this war is going badly and being mishandled. This includes a Vietnam war B52 Pilot as you know the B52 pilots were the most reviled soldiers by the radical left. This veteran pilot has a son who is serving Iraq. He is against the war not his son.

I love how all these people want to judge her. You haven't even thought that BUSH our COWARD in chief doesn't even have his coke sniffing daughters in the service, does he? No! Of COURSE NOT! And neither do 99 percent of congress have a child in the armed forces either. MAYBE THAT will tell you what those who led us into the war really think. Sure, working stiffs can put their butts on the line for this awful misguided and illegal war, but NOT THEM...nooo.... you sheep need to start thinking for yourself, instead of believing what the boob tube tells you to think.

How can anyone judge her, especially anyone who has NOT LOST A CHILD TO THIS DEMONIC WAR?!?

Cindy Sheehan honored all military personnel by protesting Bush's wars.

They signed up to protect our country, not to be used as human shields for Halliburton.

We all know now that Bush and Cheney lied to America to start their war in Iraq. We also now know that they had planned it ever since their first Cabinet meeting. Cheney even had maps of Iraqi oilfields at his Energy Summit.

Unfortunately, many kids are being blown to smithereens in Bush's war in Iraq. The Iraqi people see American troops as an occupying force and are fighting to get them out of their country.

It is Bush that dishonors our military, not people like Cindy Sheehan who want them to come home from Bush's war before more have to die like her son did.

you've got a lot of nerve saying that you know what casey sheehan would think if he were still alive. i think you're the one being disrespectful.

just because you're a military mother doesn't mean you know everything about every military personnel (or their mothers).

Yes. Mothers should accept the deaths of their children in all wars, illegal or otherwise. Valid, or based on lies. They should bravely smile and accept whatever the government tells them, because that government always has their best interests at heart. Honest criticism is treason.

I think she snapped when she lost her son and that he would have been embarrassed by her actions.
