Alright, so I've been on birth control for a couple of months to regulate my period. It started to help it, making it lighter and shorter without all the horrible cramps. On prom weekend I spent the night at my friends house, forgetting to bring my pills, the next day was prom, I wasn't home that night either, so on Sunday I decided to take all 3 pills. On may 1st I started my period, and it lasted until May 8th. I got it AGAIN on May 15th, and I STILL have it today. (May 30th). It's extremely heavy. Does anyone know what could be wrong.... I'm going to the doctor next week I just wanted some opinions.

Because you skipped 3 days your cycle is completely off & health wise taking 3 pills isn't a very good idea. It's good you're seeing your doc, who can help you get back to your normal cycle.

If you forget one pill, you can take it the next day as soon as you get home. But never take 3 pills together! These are hormones! That's why it started your periods. Forget the pill for the rest of the pack, because they won't be effective anyway. The pill stays in your system for 24 hours. That's why you have to take one every single day at the very same time so that the medication and the hormones stay at the same level in your body. If you forgot to take your pills for more than a day, they won't be effective anymore.

You might still have your periods because your system is unbalanced. It should resolves itself soon, but it's a good thing you're seeing your doctor next week. Don't forget to talk to him/her about the pill incident, and s/he'll be able to tell you more about all this.

OK, when you didn't take your pills for 3 days, your body took that as a sign to start your period. Then taking the 3 pills probably messed the whole thing up. It'll probably take a cycle or two to get back to normal. You should've read the directions, they'll tell you what to do if you miss pills. I believe you're supposed to throw out the rest of the pack and start a new one. When you go to the Dr. maybe you can ask about something that you're less likely to forget like the nuvaring or the depo shot.

Taking three pills at once is almost like taking Plan B - immediate period, and a screwed up cycle.

You should never take that many at once! Follow the instructions that come with your pills for what to do when you miss a pill.

I think maybe you took too many pills and it messed up your cycle. Next time you miss a dose, just take one. Skip the ones you missed. It's much safer!

It has to do with the hormones in your birth control pills, and you not taking them daily like they were prescribed.

it's just your homones being out of balance....if you now continue to take the birthcontrol regularly everything should work itself out...you shouldn't worry...good luck
