His best years are clearly behind him. If he stays with the lakers, they can't get him any help. The more talented free agents aren't going to sign with the lakers(only one ball) Kobe takes tehm to the first roudn of the playoffs, so there really isn't a chance of them getting an impact player right away. If the lakers trade him, the team he goes to will have to give up so much talent that the cupboard will be bare.
If he retires, then ten years from now people will argue he had 3 rings by 28 so he is the greatest blah blah blah.

Reality check, Kobe's 3 rings is only credited to Shaq. Kobe's role in those rings is only slightly more significant if not anymore significant than Derek Fisher's role. Derek Fisher made more game winning shots in the playoffs and the finals than Kobe did. And with the amount of times Fisher touched the ball, it seems like Fisher is more significant, but Kobe did draw some double team away from Shaq. Good for him. That means Kobe is only as good or slightly better than Derek in terms of impact. Shaq needed someone who can also draw double teams and a clutch-shot. D-Wade is packaged 2 in one, that's why D-Wade had MVP. Just look back on Kobe's numbers in the Finals in 2000-2002, 14 ppg and 3 rings? And in 2004, Kobe had 27 ppg and the Lakers lost that one.

And Kobe should retire. But return after 2 years. See if he matured. I think Kobe is finally maturing now. It sounds like he is pissed that Mitch traded Shaq away instead of trading Kobe away. It's kind of funny.

I think Kobe is so selfish!!!! He somehow knew that the Western Conference Finals Champions would be determined tonight, and he found a way to steal the thunder from them! Go to any sports NBA front page, and as big as the SPURS are now (Western Champions), he managed to make his face BIGGER than this game. Shame on him, and then to take back his desire to be traded. GROW UP, KOBE!!!! ...AND by the way, your affair (or rape) with that other woman was NOT a mistake!!!! YOU MADE A BAD CHOICE! Had it been a mistake, you would have woken up beside a woman you didn't know, and may have commented something like, "Ooops! I think I slept with the wrong woman." Now, THAT'S a mistake. You made a WRONG CHOICE, NOT a mistake, Kobe. I'd admit a mistake if you didn't know she was NOT your wife. I used to really like you, as a player, as a person, but your WRONG CHOICE put you right there with all other losers. Stay in LA, keep losing!

No he should not retire, he is still plenty young and has no trouble playing the game. He would be a much better player if his EGO retired, then maybe he can become the player everyone is looking for in him.
