I agree with the first answerer. The Bar Exam is generally pass fail, though it is extensive. In NY it is a two day all day exam. But the law degree and life long student loans greatly influence the high price a person pays for an attorney. As an attorney gets more experience, they charge more.

I would say that the cost of getting the law degree would be more relevant to the amount they charge for their services and who decides to go into the field. It is expensive to take the bar exam but it is a one time fee if they pass and it is no where near the price of a law degree.

What's your question here? Yes all lawyers have to pass the Bar exam for the state they practice in. The effect it has is that if they don't pass they don't practice law.
