The first thing the Lakers' owners need to do is decide whether as an organization they want to rebuild from the ground up or retool and go for more championships. They need a plan/philosophy. In developing this plan, they should pull together Phil Jackson (who seems to know something about basketball), Kobe Bryant (as their most valuable asset), and Jerry West (in whatever capacity he is willing to help). In other words they should draw on their tremendous basketball talent to develop a strategy. Then put that strategy into action.

This sounds too simple, I know, but it has been the lack of commitment to a serious long-term strategy that has gotten them to this point. If you have a team coached by one of the best coaches in the NBA, and a team that has one of the best players in the NBA, you certainly have the nucleus for a future that looks a lot more promising than that of most teams.

By the way, your option #3 sounds great . . . for the Lakers. What in the world would this do for the Bulls? Is Kobe, especially in the long run, really as good as those two player put together?

Kobe is barely a ball hog by using fact he must be. we've all seen what happens while Kobe passes the ball lots.... the Lakers lose vast time. Kobe is probable the terrific participant interior the NBA, and the lakers ought to get some gamers around him so that they might become a contender returned.

They should trade Kobe now and start over. This thing isn't going to go away, and even if they try to smooth this out, Kobes heart won't be in it, and Jerry Buss will be shopping Kobe under the table.

They shouldn't trade Kobe because he is one of the best players in the NBA and is a great player but the Lakers should get a good draft pick.
