No disrespect.
I'm from Chicago. And I love it all. Matter of fact, Lil Wayne is at the top of the lyrical chain right now.
BUT I just can't get into the mind numbingly slow screwed up mixes. I can't listen to it.
So can the people who like it explain the appeal?
This is an honest question.
Do you need to be high or on the purple sprite?
Let me know...

Well SamanthaA, while I appreciate how you expounded on the fact that different people have different tastes, thats not the point. I just want to know if you like it, what do you like about it.

BTW, did I say anything about it sucks? didn't think so.

You don't have to be high or anything. It adds to the effect if you are but its more for a hypnotic like affect and a new sound. Some just don't sound good but a good chopped and screwed song is three 6 mafia - sippin on syrup.

First, I grew up on Hip Hop, and I still love it, even though my taste has matured as I got older.

To try to answer the question though, this "music" actually DOES suck because there's no musical talent required to take a 4 bar beat, and loop it up to play over and over again. Correct me if I'm wrong but can't anybody do that? I don't see any originality.

Sampling older music is played out too, thanks largely to Puffy. So I can't call this 'slowdown' stuff it's own kind of music becuase it's just slightly different from the next person.

You don't make a new genre of music just because you added some bells and whistles to what's already out. It's still a rap beat, so fast or slow it's all still rap.

I think people are going in a weird direction when it comes to mixes these days. I love everything too, and I've noticed that in a lot of other styles of music lately too. I think it's going back to radio play time, and how fast or slow a song should be,

Well, it came from DJ Screw down in Houston, and when he died, they kept his legacy of chopped and screwed songs down there and it caught on everywhere.
I think it's more of a tribute thing down in Houston.

well you can't dictate what people listen to. if its a real type of music that is produced, someone must like it in order for it to continue to be prduced, so just because you don't like it only means you don't like it. it doesnt mean it sucks.
