For the same reason you don't see that many left handed doctors, or left handed plumbers, or left handed teachers, etc. etc. There's just not that many left handed people out there, so it would stand to reason that there would be relatively few NFL quarterbacks.

I would have to guess the number of left-handed professional quarterbacks is proportional to the number of left-handed people. Assuming that each of the 32 teams have 3 quarterbacks and that about 10% of people are left-handed, we can see about how many left-handed quarterbacks there should be (starters and backups).

32*3 = 96

10%*96 = 9.6

So, there should be about 9 or 10 professional quarterbacks who are left-handed. As far as starting quarterbacks, there should be about 3 in the league who are left-handed.

Lefties are more prevalent in baseball because there are statistical advantages to batting a left-handed batter against a right handed pitcher and having a left-handed pitcher pitch to left-handed batters (who tend to have more power). In football, I do not see any real statistical advantage to having a left-handed quarterback over a right-handed quarterback or vice versa.

Left handers always have a big wind up resulting in a slow release. The only reason Michael Vick was a Pro Bowler was because the fans count for one third of the votes. Every little Vick weenie, turned on by sensationalism and not good quarterbacking, voted for him. No way was Vick ever one of the league's best QB. He shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Steve Young and Ken Stabler.

Simply put, its all in the numbers. Roughly 10 Percent of the global population is dominantly left handed. Take that ten percent and apply it to all the HS QBs in the USA, so your looking at about 15000 HS quarterbacks, 10 percent of that is 1500. In recent surveys, only 5% of all HS Qb's make it to the college level, so 5% of 1500 equals to 75 QBs. In more surveys, only 1-3% of those QBs make it to the NFL level, so 1% of 75 is .75, 2% is 1.5, and 3% is 2.25, so roughly no more than 3-5 lefty QBs in the league. How many noticable left handed QB's are in the NFL?

Michael Vick-Atlanta Falcons #7

Matt Leinart- Arizona Cardinals #7

Jared Lorenzen- New York Giants (the really fat one, #12)

So its not that there arent good lefty QB's out there, its just a numbers game and there are way more right handed QB's than lefties.

Probably cause many left handed people who play football also play baseball. Left handed pitchers are always wanted in the majors and you can play baseball alot longer than you can play football. Current lefty QBs are Michael Vick and Matt Lienart also Mark Brunell and Steve Young are some former left handed QBs

If I am a coach and I have two equal players, one right and one left handed, I am going to give the job to the righty, because my offense is designed for a right handed QB. My left tackle is used to protecting the blind side, so on and so on. That and the best QBs are more analytical, and they are left brain thinkers(left brain = right hander)
