Make sure your OD unit is running when the a/c should be on.If its not the first step is to check the breakers in the panel,if all are on,have someone stand by the unit as you move the tstat setting up and down and see if there is a click which would be the contactor pulling in,not off and on but up and down.if you have a basement, check to see if you have a cond. pump for the a/c drain water,if it fails theres a safety in the pump to stop the a/c from coming on,if you look in the top, there should be water about 2" below the lid,any higher and the safety float has opened the circuit.hope it helps

Make sure that your outdoor unit is actually running before you call anyone. If it is not check both the circuit breaker and the disconnect switch at the unit. If you have power at both of those you might have a break in the low voltage wire between the furnace and A/C. Mice and rabbits love to chew on those. On a side note, if you wait to turn your unit on until it is very hot, it will take a long time for the temp to drop because you have to get the humidity out of the house. Plus it wastes alot of electricity.

If its a honeywell thermostat, try pulling the cover off and looking for a switch that adjust from the letter E (electrical) F (furnace). With my experience, the Honeywell thermostats are designed for either heatpump or gas furnances. Switching it to E might make it work properly. I put one and forgot to switch it and everytime i turned on the air or just the fan, my heat would come on.

There's a slight chance that your thermostat is not working correctly. Ours is a little off, but we've learned to adjust its setting. We should really replace it, but we've been a little slack. It's also possible that your unit could be freezing up. You may need to call a repairman, but I'd check with the manufacturer first.

Your system could be low on freon. If the large refrigerant line is icing up that is a possible sign of a low charge
