I would think it depends. I would think that he would pay the college directly for tuition. If the son lives on campus/dorm or in a place of his own, then the father would give the son living expenses. If the son is living at home and the ex wife is footing the bills, then I would think that the ex would send to her whatever he would give the son for living expenses. If he doesn't want to do this, then I would suggest that the mother and son come to an agreement on what the son should pay for living expenses and the father can send the son XXX amount of money per month and the son can pay his mother rent.

Once they turn 18, it should be made to the child unless the child is living in the mothers house. Best thing is to put it into an account the son can access for paying for college books and so on.

I think that he should pay some of the college bills, That is what he should do with the money. I would not give it to the ex-wife or the son. It depends on what the son is going to college for wither it should be 2 or four years. It would be OK to give the son money once in awhile.

Yes he should. In fact it's a law (in Oregon at least) that child support be paid until the age of 18 unless the child is enrolled in college and continues to be paid until they quit , graduate, or turn 21. I think after 18 it should be paid to the child not to the ex.

Hell yes he should pay it to his wife who is supporting his son through college that is if the son is living at home. If the son lives on campus maybe he should give it to the son to help with his living expenses unless the ex is paying those for the son in which case dad should give it to her.

He is required to pay child support as long as his son is in school. Child support only stops at 18 if the child choses not to further their education. At least that was a letter my husband got when his daughter turned 18.

I think the states are different, but I believe the general rule is the noncustodial parent pays until the child turns 18 or when the child WOULD have graduated HIGH SCHOOL, whichever is LATER.
Child support is unnecessary once the kid hits this point. He is now responsible for himself and needs to know that.

legally, he should pay whatever his particular state law requires... morally, ethically, whatever he has agreed to with his ex wife when he signed the divorce or custody papers... child support is to be paid to the parent, not child, unless the other parent is agreeable (and signs the appropriate documents) to the child being given the money... most parents i've talked with say they help or pay for 4 yrs of college for their children, anything more is on the child! good luck!!!
