I've been trying to get my bike repaired, one shop told me to replace the headplate of the engine, and the other recommended to use a helicoil.

I used helicoils many times on different bikes.
The problem is, if it's a hole that a bolt/screw/stud in going in and never coming out again, it works just fine.
However, if it's a hole that the part/attachment threaded into it is constantly being removed and reinstalled (spark plug, drain plug, etc), over time the coil starts to UNcoil, and come out of the hole.
A better (doesn't uncoil) and stronger (it's a solid piece of steel) alternative is a time-sert.

I've used these many times over the years, a better, more permanent solution, and stronger because it IS solid steel.
By the way, they do come in spark plug sizes also.

A helicoil is a threaded insert which is itself threaded into a specially prepared hole in metal. A helicoil can be used to repair stripped threads in a hole, commonly a sparkplug hole on a motorcycle. Helicoil installation requires special tools and should be done by someone with experience or good mechanical skills.

A helicoil is a insert to make a threaded hole stronger or to repair a damaged or stripped out threaded hole.

Do you mean a thread repair kit? Or a bolt extractor?
