How do you replace the motor on a 1991 Chevy Caprice (driver side front). I took the existing motor apart and the brush is shattered. I can get an entire replacement motor and gear for about $25. But is the motor rivoted to the regulator or bolted on? If rivoted to the regulator, how do you get to it to remove the motor? Is there enough clearance to use bolts instead of rivots should there be rivots?

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the door trim panel and inner panel water deflector.

Raise the window to full-up position and hold in place by inserting a rubber wedge door stops at the front and rear of the window between window and inner panel.

Remove the front door lock module assembly.

Punch out the center pins of the regulator sash to window rivets; then drill out the rivets using a 5/16 inch drill bit.

Remove the bolt securing the regulator cam to the door panel. Disconnect wire harness from the motor (if equipped).

Punch out the center pins of the regulator rivets; then drill out the rivets using a 5/16 inch drill bit.

Remove the regulator through the rear access hole.

Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
