You bet - while the performance may be different, you'll spend a lot less to gas up a Toyota Prius than you will a Hummer.

The site linked below provides a ton of information on fuel economy and related topics, and has a function that allows you to make side by side comparisons between cars on areas like gas mileage, emissions, etc.

Which different car? You can always borrow your neigbors car or parents car and burn up their gas, Hahaha!

IF you are going from an 8-cylinder to a 4-cylinder then obviously you will save some gas.

I have driven some newer 6-cylinder cars and they get as good mileage as some compact 4-cylinder cars.

The thing to remember is speed when driving. IF you push a 4-cylinder hard trying to race down the road and run 75 MPH on the Interstate, you can get as bad gas mileage as a modern 8-cylinder with 32 valve motor and a 6-speed transmission.

I have an '88 Cadillac that gets about 27 MPG on the Interstate and 20 MPG combined city/highway. I rented a brand new tiny Honda recently that had a 4-cylinder motor and drove it for two days and the best it could do was 30 MPG with a 4-speed automatic.

So, how you drive and where you drive will determine gas mileage as much as how many cylinders are under the hood.

Well, yes! An electric car uses NO gas at all. A large truck, "Ford F-350", will use more than a Honda Civic. Some cars run on propane, or alcohol. Some even run on hydrogen. Some models use several different engines in the same body. You might get a Honda Accord with a small 4 cylinder, a large 4 cylinder or even a V-6 engine. As the engine size gets bigger, the fuel consumption will become greater also.

I hope this helps you.

The size of the car, the way you drive your car, to my knowledge a four cylinder would be great on gas.
